Direct TV - Great Promises - Poor Delivery
Satellite TV service - Complaint
BOW, NEW HAMPSHIRE -- We signed up for Direct TV at our local Sam's Club. The salesman was great, explaining how we were going to save $50 per month compared to cable and we were going to love it. By the second day of service we knew we had made a big mistake. First, Direct TV doesn't compare to cable in terms of On-Demand TV - with cable we had on-demand on every TV, we thought that was the case with Direct, but it's only on one TV. To have it on all TVs will cost $100s extra. Strike one. When going through the listing of channels there are the local channels, then the pay per view movie channels, and then the porn channels, then back to the sports channels and other normal service. I couldn't get the porn movies off, and I don't want my kids seeing those smutty movie titles. Strike two. Then, the monthly bills don't add up to the numbers that are spelled out in the contracts. You have to talk to Direct every month to get the bill corrected, and there is never a record of any previous problems - every time you call it's the first time there's been a problem with your account. Strike three. So we decided it was such poor service and such a hassle to do business with Direct we would cancel the service and pay cancellation fees. We told them the effective date of the cancellation, 3 days to give cable time to be reinstated, turned on the TV next day and Direct was cancelled. Called them to find out why, oh it was a mistake, turned it back on again. Two days later, cancelled one day early. Call back again and are told now it would take a week to turn it back on. What keeps this company in business? It is run in such an unprofessional manner. Just a bunch of cheats, and there is no mechanism for getting satisfaction. When Direct TV makes you an offer, I recommend that you head in the opposite direction as fast as you can!
