Whirlpool - 1 month out of warranty; out of luck
Whirlpool Duet front loading gas dryer Model #: WGD94HEXW 0 - Complaint
This dryer is a top end unit. It never completely dried clothing from day one. We read the manual over and over to try to figure out how to make it complete the drying process. We subsequently read many reviews about the same issue others were having. Clearly this product has a problem.
Last night, exactly 6 weeks beyond the end of the manufacturers warranty, the dryer quit. A call was made to Whirlpool asking for some consideration. I am having $4500 worth of new Kitchen Aid products delivered today and thought since Whirlpool and Kitchen Aid are related that I may get some relief. No such luck.
My options were roll the dice with a service call and hope the part is cheap, or pay for an extra years coverage, where any additional repair would be covered. I opted for the latter @ a price of $287 bucks!
Suffice to say, we are not very happy with Whirlpool. I sure hope that the $4500 worth of kitchen products fare better. Our last washer, dryer and fridge were all GE. After reading all the consumer reports, we decided that Whirlpool offered the most reliable product. I am now having buyers remorse and wish I had stuck with products from GE.
