Outback Steakhouse - Horrible Service

NEW BERN, NORTH CAROLINA -- My wife and I went to New Bern location of Outback on February, 28 2012. It was Tuesday, around 7:45, and the restaurant was completely empty. The hostess sat us right next to a loud party celebrating a birthday. They were using foul language and were quite loud. We waited for 10-15 minutes before our server finally arrived to get our drink orders. Like I said before, the place was empty. There were a handful of people at the bar, our table, and the party next to us. That was it. It should not have taken that long to get a drink order in. We ordered a Blooming Onion that came out burnt and we could not eat. Both of our baked potatoes were cold. We only received on refill during the entire meal. Even after we were done eating it took 15-20 minutes before the check arrived. There was no excuse for the horrible service by our waitress. We even contacted Outback about our experience. It has been one week, and no response. We will never eat there again.

Was the manager available that night for you to speak to?

I've spoken with a few managers at Outback. The last offered me compensation, and I told her I wouldn't be returning. And there the lesson ends.

#1 If you don't like where the hostess is going to seat you, speak up. I once was going to be seated by the kitchen door. I said, "I will wait for the next available table." I was immediately seated elsewhere. Another time, it was being seated by the entrance to the bathroom. I spoke up and was seated elsewhere.
#2 When the food is bad, speak up immediately. I finally learned at my old age that my money is what the restaurant wants, so apeak up. I used to just grin and bear it until I got a steak I couldn't even cut, let alone eat. I finally got up the courage to say something, they brought me another one and I could cut it with a fork. Another time we were seated in an almost empty restaurant and after 10 minutes and no one even acknowledging us we got up and left. The hostess at the counter asked how our meal was and we said we didn't know because no one ever came to the table and just walked out the door.

You pay good money for your meal - speak up
