Burlington Coat Factory - Frustrating Customer service

BURLINGTON, NEW JERSEY -- My Fiancee and I have a baby registry set up through Burlington. I would not recommend them to anyone after the experiences that we have had. First, after we spent 2 hours in the store scanning all of the products we wanted on the registry, we get home and check 24 hours later and it isn't appearing. We waited a few more days, only to find out the person that helped us get it set up messed up and erased it instead of adding it. So we had to go back and spend more time to redo it.

Then a few weeks ago, we received a gift from Burlington via UPS. We open it up and there is no name of who it is from. We called Burlington Customer Service and got a run around saying "we are not allowed to release that information." We were just looking to find out who bought it for us so we could thank them. Now today, we get another package from Burlington and the same thing. No name of who it is from.

I called customer service again and it took me 10 times to finally get to talk to someone and not get kicked to voicemail. I talked to the same woman twice. The first time she sent me to someone who had a no voicemail set up. The second time I was put on hold for 5 mintues before I got transferred again to a line with no voicemail. All I want to do is find out who bought this stuff for us. It shouldn't be this tough.

Privacy laws are what is preventing you from finding out who sent them. I know that you are just trying to figure it out so that you can thank them, but that doesn't mean that they can override the law. It is the same law that prevents the store from posting all but the last four digits of your card on your receipt.

The people who bought them probably thought the checked in spot (which says allow my name to be included with the gift), as one of those automatic op-in, for emails with special savings. I did that a couple times.

Burlington needs a better system, because that's ridiculous.

I understand the privacy laws, but we got a gift off of our Target registry and on the invoice, it said who it was from. No credit card numbers, or addresses. Nothing like that. I don't want people to think we are ignorant by not thanking them.

tom - they can give the name IF the buyer agrees.

if the buyer doesn't agree or forgets to release the info then... there's nothing they can do for you.

they shouldn't be punished for refusing to break laws for customers.
