Singer Lazer Vacuum IGIA Complaint - Singer Lazer Vac Infomercial Rip Off, Deceiving

Review by lrain12 on 2005-10-15
I ordered a Singer Lazer Vacuum from an infomercial back in May of 2005. I was to buy one, get one free and get a free Steamer cleaner. According to the customer service rep who took my order, I only had to pay shipping on the 2nd Vac and steamer in addition to the advertised price of $90. The total of the order was to be $157 with shipping etc. Imagine my surprise when $353.70 posted to my account one week later. I immediately contacted my bank and they said I should try to resolve this with Singer. I did TRY! Numerous calls to their busy 800 number, no response to my e-mails lead me to contact my bank again 3 weeks later. They in turn filed an investigation, advised me not to accept any shipment and refunded my money. I did all of the above and am HAPPY to say, the matter has been resolved. HOWEVER! I continued to read about many many more people, being ripped off and deceived by the Singer people. I have since then written to the BBB, and the Attorney Generals of California and Michigan. No response from either of the Attorney's! I still continue to see more and more people being totally deceived by this company. What will it take to stop them? This is, in my opinion, a blaten attempt to scam people. I only hope that I can influence people to investigate any purchase made from an infomercial, on-line or in an ad, in the future. BUYER BEWARE!
