Chilies Restaurant - Disinterested staff

FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS -- Two years ago I said I would not go to Chilis again due to bad service. Unfortunately, I took my wife there for lunch again. Plenty of tables available but the Hostess was busy looking outside and talking to the other staff. Finally I asked if we could be seated. Her attitude was that I had asked for something out of the ordinary. Our food came cold and it was hard to get a refill on drinks.
Either they need new or better trained staff or different management. However, I'll never know because I won't be back.

That is definitely a bad experience. I'm surprised - Chili's seems to be pretty well regarded for a chain.

I'll say this - I've been where you were in going back to a chain after a few years and seeing if things are better, and more than 50% of the time I have a crappy experience.

Chili's used to be awesome, but after the recession hit, my husband and I both noticed that the quality and portion size of the food had gone down while the prices (natch) had gone up. The service continues to be good, but I can't fill my stomach on good feelings.

We eat at Chili's 2-3 time a month. I love the Pomegranate margaritas and my man loves the southwestern egg rolls

We always have great friendly service.

In the world of chain restaurants both Chili's and Applebee's rank at the very bottom. I have tried both numerous times and they always seem to fail. Yes you can go there and have a good dining experience but that is rare. I prefer to spend my money at a restaurant where I know the food and service is consistently good.

I hadn't been to my local Chili's in a long time and wondered if things had gone downhill. When I finally did go back, everything was the same. The customer service was excellent as usual, and the food was perfect with no change in portion size. My local Chili's continues to be my favorite restaurant, but I've been at other locations that were not as good.

Venice: Your local Chili's must be well managed and is the exception. If they have good food and service I would continue to frequent them. Sadly this is not the dining experience at most of their chain locations. Like Applebee's the food is not great and they have mostly kids working there who don't care. You can do better.

It is definitely well managed. It runs like a well-oiled machine. The same woman has been the Hostess since it opened many years ago. The last time we were there, my daughter mentioned that she might be the owner, and I think she's right. The servers are mostly young adults. They all seem to have the same type personalities. They are either well trained or it just comes naturally. They are friendly, polite and very helpful when it comes to ordering.

We have lots of places to choose from here, but we don't even discuss it anymore. We just head for Chili's because we know what to expect. It's never a disappointment.
