UTICA, NEW YORK -- Can't figure out why the Pizza Hut at North Utica Genesee st has closed. My daughter and I visited there at least twice a month. We enjoyed the buffets and the restaurant was always busy. Everything was clean. There is a Pizza Hut in New Hartford, but it is not convenient for us. Utica is a bit city and to have only one acess is ridiculous.

Yes, it would quite be a hike to go to New Hartford for a pizza from North Utica. I lived there in the 80's, and I'm not surprised Pizza Hut is trimming its locations.

The population peaked in 1930 in Utica, and has pretty much been declining ever since. Yes, there was a 2% increase from 2000 to 2010, but it will take a small miracle for real growth to return to central leather-stocking country.

I just checked and confirmed my suspicion. I used to eat breakfast at an establishment that was at this same address prior to Pizza Hut.

Maybe this is just a bad location for a restaurant.

Location is everything! We have a few spots in our town that are a regular carousel for restaurants. Noticing that it's the same location that keeps losing businesses, it leads one to believe that it's more than just coincidence.

We have a building like that around here also, it has been probably 5 different restaurants. Turns out the owner of the building was giving super good deals on the lease for 18months. When it can time for renewal, he'd triple the costs of the lease. Some tried to stick it out, but lost to expenses. Word must have gotten around because it has been empty for the last year or so.
