Kohl's - Merchandise return gift card never applied to online order even though it said it was applied.

Immediatley emailed after order charged my debit card the full amount instead of crediting my order with the merchandise return gift card I used. I explained the problem in detail but nothing and now they just keep on telling me how to enter a gift card which any two year old can do which is making me livid because they aren't taking me seriously or my business. All I want is my credit towards my order but now they say it is too late which is bogus because I used to work in a department store and there is so many ways around it but that would require thinking and work so let's just tell this lady how to enter in a gift card online 3-4 times. That should make her happy. NOT !!!! I personally believe they had a system glitch because the credit was definitely applied until the order was finalized then it disappeared and I got charged the full amount.
