ATLANTA, GEORGIA -- You always hear about how much better credit unions are with regards to fees and customer focus. However, I want everyone to be aware that they are joining the big banks in regards to outrageous overdraft fees. I have over 18,000 dollars in two savings accounts withe Georgia Own yet they continued to charge me 5.00 overdraft fees and then escalated to 30.00 per overdraft on my checking account. I am supposed to have a balance alert service on my account as this is not my primary banking account. The alert never was sent and while traveling out of town I accumulated over 250.00 in overdraft fees.

This is a warning to be sure you are reading all the policy changes from your credit union. They are demonstrating the same lack of integrity as the big banks.

This shows that there can certainly be a rotten apple in the barrel. However, most credit unions treat their customers far better than a big bank does.

This outfit is the exception, not the rule.

Time to remove your money from their care.

Even thought the balance alert did not happen, it was still the OP's responsibility to make sure there was enough money in the account.
