Dish Network - I Should Have Bought a Pair of Rabbit Ear Antennas Instead
Cable - Complaint
SANTA CRUZ, CALIFORNIA -- Anyone who has ever had service with either Astound, AT&T U-verse or Xfinity cannot possibly find Dish Network acceptable. Unfortunately, we switched to them and stupidly signed a 2 year contract because Xfinity was so damned expensive, and we were assured Dish would be just as good, but it's NOT! Let me count the ways.
1. If you want to DVR something, you can't watch another channel, and when the DVR turns on for a planned recording, it switches the channel you were watching (or you can opt to have the recording canceled). 2. The DVR isn't "smart." In other words, it stops at it's scheduled time whether the program was extended or not. 3. The space on the DVR is SMALL. 4. There is no receiver in our bedroom - it feeds off of the one in the living room. So guess where you have to point the remote when you want to change the TV? Sometimes towards the living room, sometimes behind you towards the back wall, and sometimes towards the ceiling, but NEVER in the same place twice and NEVER at the TV!
5. The receiver in our third room has never worked properly. I don't even think the guy tested it before he left.
6. The channel line up complete SUCKS and is completely illogical. It seems like the only thing on the guide are videos on demand - like 30 channels of on demand and nothing else. 7. Oh wait, I'm wrong - there is one other thing that's always listed on the guide. Tons and tons of PORN! Not just Debbie Does Dallas kind of porn, but listed for all three of my kids to see. Seriously - I am not exaggerating. So I called to find out how to hide the titles, which turned out to be completely counterintuitive, but not only does it hide the porn titles, it blocks every single show that even hints of being PG-13. It blocked Fashion Police! So I had to turn it off because then we really couldn't watch anything. Now the porn titles are once again clearly displayed for all to see. 8. When we do watch movies, they are constantly buffering and often freeze up. Let me make clear that NONE of this happens with AT&T U-verse, which I wish was available here, or even Xfinity.
