DAVANPORT, FLORIDA -- When my husband walked in & tlod the Host we would like to be seated at our favorite server's Pauline's table. The food (breakfast-blueberry pancakes) was wonderful-you see she always makes sure we get what we ask for. She is always cheerful, neat & checks on us to see if we need any thing. You see my husband & I both worked & ran restaurants. We know what to expect. Everything was tip top up until we were leaving. The host (Kakela). Then he said. He said (who seated us) was also taking care of money asked us did we enjoy the meal. We both said yes -very much. We told him thats why we ask for Pauline. Then he said (I couldn't believe it) oh she is OK but in my book (we didn't catch her name-but she was very young & thin) she is a better server then Pauline. We were shocked!! Couldn't believe he would say it to us!! I said what? He said she would beat Pauline any time. Now I know in any job there is always back stabber, I think it goes on more in this job. BUT we have never seen or heard of an employee talk badly about a server or any one doing it witin hearing distance. Let alone saying it to us. My huband with his keen eye- said I he has something going on with skinny girl. We just left. Wow -yet it is said jobs are hard to find! I also know a host can ruin some one's job, by not giving tables the fair way-but more to the one he likes. Some one should speak to him or better yet stick him the kitchen & let him find out what it's like to WORK for a change.
telling a customer (with other people around).

Yeah, that's rather unprofessional. Don't worry, he won't go too far in life with that attitude.
