State of Illinois Informative - taxation terrorism - Excise taxes on internet tobacco sales

Review by Leanie2 on 2005-10-21
ILLINOIS -- As you are probably aware, the State of Illinois, Excise Tax Division has
been sending out excise tax notices, with interest and penalties, some
dating back 5 years, to the citizens of Illinois, for alledgedly
purchasing cigarettes online from a place called Esmokes.com.
These notices are based on supposed records turned over by Esmokes,
private information, and the states notices can't even reference any
invoice numbers, or any concrete proof that these cigarettes were
received, and consumed in the State of Illinois.
Also, Illinois residents purchase every imaginable item on the internet
for use in the state, yet tax notices are being sent to smokers. This is
discrimination against tobacco users. If that is how it's going to be,
they had better track down every single purchase made by Illinois
residents from the internet, from another state and send out tax notices
to everyone. That will put and end to their cash flow problem.
I am urging everyone that has been a victim of this "taxation terrorism"
to file a discrimintation claim with the State of Illinois, Civil Rights
Bureau.

Blagojevich has gone mad. That's what you get when you put a democrat in office; let this be a lesson to everyone.

Well, that may happen some day, when I chose to, but that is not the issue here.
Thanks for your input.
