Arigato Sushiya at Fair Lakes Shopping Center Complaint - Worst and most insulting service I ever had!

Review by JimHemp on 2005-10-22
13039 FAIR LAKES SHOPPING CENTER, FAIRFAX, VA 2203, VIRGINIA -- While eating at the Arigato Sushiya in the Fair Lakes Shopping Center (at lunch on Oct 22, 2005 the young water accidentally hit my wife in the chest when he was waving in some new customers (she was returning from the self-serve buffet with an extra spoon for our son). He asked if she was all right at the time but neither my wife nor I heard any type of apology. My wife did not answer because it was a bit painful and she was quite shocked and embarrassed. When leaving I politely asked if he would apologize to my wife for hitting her in the chest and was a bit shocked myself when he refused. In fact, he said she was the one that was rude for not answering him when he asked if she was okay. When I asked to see a supervisor, he said come back in five hours and that no one else could help me at this time. The waitress standing next to him seemed to even think it was amusing by her smirk. I am a retired Colonel from the military and have eaten in many restaurants around the world, but never been insulted by such an uncaring employee and lack of interest by the management. Needless to say we will never eat there again nor will I ever recommend it to others!

Dang, were the customers coming in on a plane?? He must have been swinging pretty hard to hurt her.

I take it that the food must have been pretty good, right? You chow down on the "self serve buffet" until you are good and stuffed while the 'Misses' is embarassed and in pain and THEN you want an apology when leaving.

The waiter was obviously in the wrong by not apologizing, even if he wasn't sorry, it should have been business courtesy. Anytime I have seen something like that there have been profuse apologies to the point of being annoying. Although in my opinion it was slightly impolite for no one to respond to him when he initially asked your wife is she was ok. I know when I take the time to try to rectify a bad situation and get no response I get frustrated, but since he was on the job, that is really no excuse.
