Dish Network == Crooked!
BOULDER, COLORADO -- My experience with DISH Network has been an absolute nightmare and they are a completely unethical company and don't care at all whether their customers are happy. To start off, they refused to give me the deal I was promised by a 3rd-party vendor, forcing me to upgrade to a more expensive package in order to get HD. The package itself still sucked and only included 3 or 4 good channels. I was told by the representative on the phone that I would not get the discounted price until I went online and agreed to their ToS and signed the contract, but even though I never did that, apparently I was under contract from the time I signed the authorization form for the guy to install the dish (even though I did not get a copy of this contract). About 4 days later, my landlord called me to tell me that satellite dishes are not allowed on the property. Apparently DISH was supposed to get permission before installing the dish which they did not do, so I had to cancel my contract. But DISH wanted the full price of the 24-month contract as a cancellation fee (over $400). I talked to them several times trying to get them to understand that they made the mistake by not asking for permission from my landlord to install the dish in the first place, but they wouldn't listen. The representative just kept saying, "you signed the contract" over and over. They insisted they had the right to install a dish on my patio, so they sent someone out to relocate it from the railing to the middle of the patio. This thing has a 3ft by 3ft base, which pretty much doesn't allow any room for anything else on the patio. Then they charged me $75 for the service fee. Eventually I was able to get the contract voided because in the dish's new location it did not have line-of-sight to the satellite. But even though the guy was there when this was confirmed, he could not take the equipment with him. I had to wait for them to ship me a box, then go out and buy a tool to take down the dish myself, pack it up and send it to them and pay for the shipping and handling. I also had to pay for the first month of service even though I only got about 4 days of actual service.
Stay away from DISH Network, they are evil.
