Poor customer service on esupport,sony,com

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA -- I have a computer just 4 years old, got a Clear modem to connect wireless to the Internet. The computer did not connected with the system. Contacted first to clear and they told me the people to correct the issue is Sony manufacturer, the gave to me the number 18884766972. I call them and they said no technical support was available for me unless I pay the amount of almost $80.00. So explained the situation and spoke to a supervisor, he said regardless the loyalty I have to the brand ( all my TVs, computers, cameras are Sony ) they can do NOTHING to give to me the technical support unless I pay them. Also they refer to me a web site called www.esupport. Sony, com. Told them before the call ended how unsatisfied customer I was. Proceed to the web site given and they said they will give a 15min free of assistance. We start the chat and the person on the other end " a technician" started to answer the chat veeeery slow. I said to him in the spot his answer speed was taking all the time allowed in the 15 min, he said " don't worry about the time" they ask for all the questions possibles and I gave to them all on the speedy way, to avoid wasting the 15 min.. He ran a ONLINE VIRUS SCAN at the end the "technician" just red the finds on the virus scan and also the time was up and I have to pay him $79.99 to continue. He started a sales speech and told him I have no money due to unemployment.. He said sorry and cut off all the chat session.. So what kind of scam is it?
Sony guys until this moment I was a loyal brand customer, but there are others electronics manufacturers with better technical support and I'm sure competitive products. So here goes and unhappy customer out of you sales market...
