Spring Street Greenhouse and Flower Shop Compliment - Above and Beyond the call of duty!
DEXTER, MAINE -- I have never been particularly good about planning ahead when it comes to gift-giving occassions, and Mother's Day 2005 was no exception. As the holiday grew nearer, I began to realize that I had missed any possibility of finding a gift in time to have it post over 1000 miles to reach my mother by her "special day". The last time this had happened, I placed a cc order with the small local store in my childhood hometown and had my father pick up the gift during one of his trips into town. Option 1, already used up. :-p
My mother is newly back in an outside-the-home job though, and I thought it would be sweet to have some flowers delivered to her at work. I did a yellowpages dot com search of florists in the town she works in, and came up with one "hit". I made my call.
The woman that answered the phone was wonderful, cheerfully helping me choose an arrangement and taking the necessary information for delivery. The requested date of delivery would be the Friday before Mother's Day.
That Friday, I received a call at work. It was the florist. They had attempted delivery, but my mother was not at work that day. Would I like them to make a delivery to her home, they asked? It would be an additional $7 (for a 30 mile round trip delivery, to the complete and utter boonies, entirely over back roads, some of them dirt).
They amicably agreed to hold, while I called home and made sure someone would be there for delivery. Then promptly made the delivery as promised.
What a TREMENDOUS job. Kudos!
