Geico Corporation - Examination Under Oath

Hit by car door - Complaint

Can someone please tell me what this examination under review is and what I can expect? Will I get in trouble if I don't attend it? What questions do they ask and since I have a bad back how long will this take?

Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I live in Virginia and Geico has made me feel like a criminal and I'm just not going to let them put me through another investigation only to have my claim denied.

I googled "Virginia examination under oath" and this is what I found http://www.bmhjlaw.com/examinations

No one here can tell you how long it is going to take or what questions they are going to ask. I would guess if you don't attend, your claim will be denied, but that is just an educated guess. Call your attorney. The insurance company is going to have their attorney there.

If you don't attend, your claim will be denied for your failure to comply with your policy conditions. An examination under oath is usually done when fraud is suspected. It is similar to a deposition but is obviously done before a lawsuit is filed. If you have nothing to hide, you should go.
