AARP United Health Care - Profiling Members
ST LOUIS, MISSOURI -- United Health Care is now sending to all your doctors your name if you get pain medication from more then one doctor or have used more then one pharmacy to get pain meds from. After a surgery at a local hospital I was released with a new script for pain management. UHC paid for the surgery and all the pain meds I got from the hospital during my stay. On my way home I used a different pharmacy then I usually use to fill the script the hospital gave me. UHC decided based on there profiling that they would send to all my other doctors my name as someone using multiple doctors at various pharmacy to get drugs. Of course this insinuates I am some crazed drug user or dealer. They did not tell them about the surgery they paid for or the numerous doctors that gave me pain meds on the same day and the previous 3 days while I was in the hospital. Profiling is now excepted practice at UHC. My one doctor got 17 names in one day 50% had valid reasons for getting on the UHC profile list. Do they care about me and the other 50% that did nothing wrong but yet were made out to be drug crazed junkies to all of the medical professionals I deal with. You don't have to be black in a hoodie to get profiled. Just use UHC and you to can be profiled. I thought that profiling was wrong in this country but UHC thinks it a good business practice. Beware and aware that UHC is doing this with partial claim info to profile member info to all your doctors. It is wrong and you should know what your trusted insurance company is doing to you behind your back.
