Mcafee should NOT have the right to take money from your bank account

Mcafee will automatically renew their service, and STEAL the money from your bank account. When you go to their site, it is impossible to find any way to cancel your service. They notify you that they will be stealing from your bank account on the exact day that they take your money, so that you have to request a refund from them. After searching extensively, I finally found an email address, and phone number. I've requested a cancellation (April 23/12), even though I've paid for service into June, in hopes that they return the money they have stolen from me, and remove my credit card information from their data base.

Many companies are now using this "convenient" automatic renewal service. This horrible practice is nothing more than thievery. They probably hope that you won't catch it on your C.C. statement. Usually but not always you can opt out of the renewal. The details are buried in the fine print and you have to hunt for it.
To my surprise Consumer Reports has lowered themselves to this tactic. When they sent me the renewal notification the C.C. I had used was now expired. They harassed me with numerous emails insisting that I update my account. I refused to be bullied and comply with their demand. They lost a customer.

Yes, the auto renewal is a complete sham. They also renew you over one month BEFORE you actually expire - so you buy a new version while losing money on the old version. This year, I called and told them, no more auto renewal. Amazingly enough, the customer rep I spoke with did not even make an effort to retain me as a customer.
So, I went online and purchased, from WINFERNO, a reseller, the 2013 version for - not $90 McAfee charges for an auto renew - but for $29.99. Once it updated itself on one of our computers, it destroyed the internet connection, rendering the computer useless! I downloaded AVG free version for now. To protect 2 computers it costs $49.99. Well worth the price, I'd say. Now we will see if I ever get my money back from McAfee. I also expect pro-rated additional refund due to their sneaky tactics of auto renewing you before your prior subscription is even over!
