EDMONTON, ALBERTA -- I tentavely booked a moving truck and stupidly gave my Visa card number to hold the reservation. When I phoned back the next day to cancel the rude person on the phone told me that she had sent me an email confirming my reservation and so I would forfeit $150.00. She had not sent me any such email! I complained and was told numerous times that their policy was their policy. She was beyond rude and would not listen to me when I repeatedly told her I had no such email. After I decided to report them to Better Business Bureau and contact my lawyer (and I shared this with her) then she apologized and said she had confused me with a different person. Never, never book with this company! I will tell everybody I know.
Company Response on 11/21/2012:
Hi may Name is Steve Baty the Managing partner with Universal Truck Rental.

I am really not sure what the issue is here. The client clear states they provided their credit card number to reserve a vehicle.

Universal Truck Rental's reservation policy is clearly stated on the web site (link to follow)

http://www.universaltruckrental.ca/reservationpolicy.html

If you book a tentative reservation ... then cancel there is a $15 administration fee,

If you book a confirmed (guaranteed truck) reservation then cancel ... there is a $150 administration fee.

If you are unsure of your plans ... wait, be patient, discuss your move with family and friends ... then firm up your game plan and book your reservation.

May we recommend you Ask the Rental company what their cencellation poilcy is or look it on their web site, before booking.

Thanks for sharing your experience. It sounds like you received a credit for your $150 after you pursued the matter. Good for you for being persistent.
