Mcafee - Extortion done legally

I downloaded mcafee because cox.net gives it for free
it slowed my pc to snails pace
I could not remove it so I called mcafee
they said tthey had to do it remotely
then said they needed money to do it
extortion and cox is complicit
now I have to format drives and wipe clean
they said it would not remove them by formatting
lol
