WHITE HALL, MARYLAND -- I've had two business transactions with Amerigas so far. Both of them left me feeling really upset and feel ripped off, so I won't do any business with this company any more. My first bad experience with Amerigas was after paying my bill when I ordered with a Credit Card. After my payment was processed they kept sending me invoices, twice charging me late fees. I had to call each time and ended up faxing over my credit card payment receipts twice. The second time, I ordered gas when I had a reasonable amount left over, but Amerigas didn't delivere the gas for almost a week, so that the tank emptied and the pilot went out. My father knew how to deal with this, so he said he rejected to get the lighting service from delivery guy. The delivery guy insisted, though, so my father refused to sign the form. The delivery guy explained this on the form with the claim that my father didn't understand what he was saying, which was untrue. Later, a bill arrived for $55.23 (remember: the fuel was paid for in advance), for the minute the delivery guy took to light the pilot. So, I called in twice and talked with billing department. The billing department person was really rude, and I asked to talk with their manager. But, both times, the claim was that their manager was out of office and would give me a call--a call I never received. It seems impossible that a company that does business this way could survive, or should if the management ignores the plight of customers they have wronged. They have certainly lost our business.
