CALIFORNIA -- I was a 24 year customer of USAA when they cancelled my auto policy after I told them I lost my job........was starting a new job in a month and if they could work with me......instead all their stupid untrained ignorant billing and customer service people would say is that I needed to pay my balance in full before it will be cancelled regardless of the long time I have been a customer....................I was thrown to the curb with no attempt on their part to work things out........an organization that is for veterans treats us like Vietnam vets were treated......with no respect and with no customer service...heck my car company of 2 years was willing to work with me and so did everyone else when I lost my job.....

USAA suks and anyone looking at them for insurance please....please run run run.....they are an organization built on lies and they are a fraud.....whoever is running the company is a fraud....they are not a company that is a partner but a 3rd rate company that treats customers like crap......no wonder other car insurance companies are getting more and more former USAA customers who are treated like crap.

I would throw around terms like "stupid", "untrained" and "ignorant" unless you know all the facts. It's entirely possible and likely that those customer service people you speak of were simply following company policy. Contrary to what you may believe, the company is under no obligation to "work" with you if you cannot fulfill your contractual obligations to them. It's nice that some companies are willing to help you out, but that's a courtesy , not a right, and if USAA chooses not to extend that courtesy to you, then that's their prerogative. Unless they are breaking their contract with you, then they aren't doing anything wrong technically.

I've had many dealings with USAA over the years and the last thing that comes to my mind is "stupid, "untrained" or "ignorant". In fact just the opposite. USAA stands out as the best company in my little world.

I'm speculating you were over 30 days late with your monthly premium? I'm assuming they sent you at least two notices in the mail stating your policy would be canceled unless payment was received by such-and-such date? I'm assuming when such-and-such date passed they canceled your auto insurance?

If my assumptions are correct, and feel free to correct me if they aren't, then what is it you expected? If premiums aren't paid then you're not insured. I don't know what recourse USAA had other than to extend you a signature line of credit. I can't fault them for not doing that.

Man, I feel for your tough times and I do count my blessings and wish you good fortune in the future.
