Ripped Off in Priceline Alamo Deal
Car Rental - Complaint

LOS CABOS, BCS, MX -- We rented an Alamo rental car on Priceline for our week in Cabo. We paid Priceline $77 in advance for insurance, which they said our own policy would not cover in MX. Our accepted bid was $122 not including the insurance. When we got to the Alamo counter at the Los Cabos airport, we were told that they would not honor the insurance we had purchased through Priceline and they charged us an additional $184 for the insurance. In addition engine light was on in the car they gave us, the brake pads and shocks were gone, and the ride was very unstable. In addition the window washer didn't work and visor came off in my husband's hand. After a couple of days we asked Alamo to exchange the car for a safe one. They said they didn't have anything to trade. After we threatened to go viral and ruin their name, they found a van for us. Its engine light was on in it as well. They told us again, not to worry.
The next day the transmission in the van went out and we had to drive 30 miles in the desert in 2nd gear to get back to town. They eventually got us another vehicle. The engine light was on in this car as well. It fortunately did not give out on us, but it is clear that Alamo does not service its cars. We did get a refund from Priceline for the amount we paid them for insurance, but there is no recourse related to the additional amount we had to pay Alamo. I would not rent from Alamo again.
