Dave and Buster's at the Waterfront-Excellent Afternoon
Restaurants and Entertainment - Compliment
HOMESTEAD, PENNSYLVANIA -- My wife and I wanted an afternoon to ourselves for my birthday so we decided to drop on down to Dave and Buster's for a late lunch/early dinner and some pool. They've been a favourite of ours for a few years and they didn't disappoint us this time, either. We timed it for 2 PM on a weekday so as to be after the lunch crowd and before the after work group. The hostess seated us immediately and the server wasn't but a second behind her.
My wife went with a Philly Steak sandwich, which had plenty of beef and arrived promptly with her salad. I went for a nice, neanderthal man-meal of a rare steak with a generous portion of mashed potatoes covered in cheese and some crispy frazzled fried onions. The meal arrived hot and ready to be devoured. The server was cheerful, kept the sodas (or 'Pop', if you prefer) filled and checked on us periodically to see that we were happy campers. Upon finishing the repast, we decided that some decadence was in order, so we ordered some raspberry coated cheesecake and a large bowl of brownie slathered in ice cream and topped with raspberry, Carmel, chocolate and whipped cream. Total: $50.00 (well worth it!).
Now a little pool was in order. We signed out a table and found the equipment to be in good shape (even if we weren't). The area was clean, the tables level and the cues straight. I didn't have any excuses for my sloppy play, but I still managed to take 2 out of 4 games from my wife, who apparently shoots better than she used to. A server appeared with the offer of some elixir to soothe my ego, but I was driving so I settled for a diet Coke. Total for 4 games: $7.25. The establishment was clean, the food was superb, the staff was friendly and we had a great time. Dave and Buster's might just convince me to take my wife out more often than once a year!
