Motel 6 - One Miserable Night
ATHENS, TENNESSEE -- Traveled to Athens to visit my Mother on Mother's Day 2012 (she's in a nursing home there)decided to stay overnight to visit longer the following day. Chose Motel 6 because it is right next to the Interstate and looked to be a nice, clean place.
Checked in mid-afternoon and went about our business, returning to our room around 10:00 pm exhausted. Showered and went to bed, the room was a bit warm so I turned the AC on to find it sounding very much like truck running. At this time it was well past 11:00 pm so we decided to just live with it for the night, removed some blankets and turned on just the circulation fan, much improved. Back to bed, now after midnight and in desperate need of sleep I laid for nearly an hour listening to the steady drip of a faucet in the bathroom. Several times I attempted to turn it off completely to no avail. Spent the entire night listening to that and sweating due to the lack of air.
Bottom line, If you have to stay somewhere in Athens, TN, stay somewhere else.
