Non-Delivered Flowers on Mother's Day - Complaint

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA -- I'm a Federal employee posted in Baghdad Iraq and I wanted to send my mother flowers on Mother's Day back in the USA. I went to FTD.com website and ordered flowers and paid for them via my credit card. When I telephoned my Mom on Mother's Day I jokingly ask her how did she like the flowers that was delivered to her. She replied, "What flowers?" Needless to say, I was a very unhappy individual. The reason I was so sure the flowers were delivered; I received an official looking e-mail from FTD saying the flowers were delivered as requested. They lied and totally embarrasssed me. I had to make several long distance calls to Mom to explain the dilemma that I was in and how sorry this occurred. I will never use FTD.com again!!!!!

Thank you for your service, and how nice it would have been for mother to have received your expression of love on Mother's Day. Someone screwed up.

I realize you shouldn't have to do this, and it might be hard to do so, but I call florists local to the recipient directly to arrange for delivery. Too many complaints about these online affairs.

The main problems these online services have is that they are basically a middleman. You place an order and pay, then they contact a florist in the locality you want delivery and place the order to them. Sometimes the local florist messes up. Like I said, mistakes happen, and the poster needs to contact FTD for either a redelivery or a refund.

I would never post a complaint on the internet with no thought to getting my money back.

That is fine for you, "whythelongfaces", but put yourself in the shoes of people who don't think like you do (we have to do that all the time on this forum):

Maybe the OP's intent is just to call it a loss, and never use this company again. They want to document what happened so others consider what may happen if they use the company.

"Redelivery" of Mother's Day flowers will be anticlimatic for many people. Nowhere in the complaint does the OP state they feel ripped off, so my guess is the horse has left the barn and the OP just wants to blow off steam. I think it is a great warning to others. There are many similar complaints out there.

I usually call a hospital in the area where I am sending flowers, because they usually have seen and know what local florist does the best job. Then I call the florist directly. The results are always better.
