My3cents.com - Sheriff Dept. Question

Review by Vincenjanie@aol.com on 2001-11-27
LEE COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI -- As a honest consumer from your state, I felt it was my responsibility to bring to your attention the following incident.

Is it legal for a newly elected Sheriff to post a 'list' of Deputies to report to be sworn in and leave off 17 previous Deputies which he knows did not vote for him. Can he legally discharge deputies with out even meeting them. Some who had served as much as 13 years in the department and one who has served 37 years with the city plus the county?
One with 23 yrs. experince. Is this what Our tax monies is put into our county for? To train deputies when already so many have trained.

Please feel free to contact me if you would like more details regarding this incident.
