Guardsman - Ripoff
Furniture Warranty - Complaint

Guardsman is a complete ripoff. I bought an expensive dining room table and paid $200 for the Guardsman Elite Protection Plan. After a year I noticed a small bubbling in the wood on the top of the table. I referred to my policy and bubbling in the wood is under what is covered. I called the company and they had me go on line and fill out papers and upload photos.
My claim came back in the mail as denied and said it was not covered and to refer to my policy. I called Guardsman and they told me that it is not covered because I said I did not know what caused the bubbling. It is only covered if it was caused by a single accident. I asked them to give me a for instance - what type of accident would cause bubbling in wood? They could not give me an example. I asked if water spilled on it from a glass would that be covered? They said normal use of the table from hot plates or water would not be covered either.
As far as I can see there is no scenario under which it would be covered even though the policy clearly says bubbling or cracking of the wood is covered. Clearly this company just takes money and does not actually cover anything. Their contract just provides one giant loophole so they do not actually have to cover anything. This is dishonest and a complete ripoff!!! I am writing the BBB and my Attorney General to report this fraud.

Without having a better description of the warranty verbiage, my guess is the warranty does not cover certain damage caused by leaving either pools of water or wet glasses on the table, and since you couldn't tell them it was *not* caused by something along these lines they denied your claim.

I wonder if Guardsman has ever covered anything for anybody?
