Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Compliment - Is there anything sweeter in life? - food product

food product - Compliment
Review by Hedburg on 2005-11-18
Here's what a good morning consists of for me: A piping hot cup of coffee or three. The New York Times. The dog walking itself. And at least three Krispy Kreme creations on a clean plate waiting to be devoured by me.

This kind of morning doesn't happen as often as I'd like, especially the part with the dog. But that's the trick to enjoying the teeth-killing choices that Krispy Kreme offers at most local supermarkets. If you ate a raspberry-filled doughnut every morning, you'd get turned off by the crazy helping of sugar and empty calories at some point. But it means that when you get a quiet moment, a short window of time to truly call your own, you can appreciate the Krispy Kreme doughnut all the more. Krispy Kreme, particularly the classic that is the standard glazed, is like a shot of tequila. It is sinfully fulfilling for the brief seconds it runs through your system and leaves you craving more, sometimes 10 more. But it's a luxury best left at uncommon.

Very well put but it sounds like that dog of yours may need to walk you a little more.

Krispy Kremes are excellent, but the New York Times sucks...it is the bible of the New York left wingers.

So is the Washington Post, but they have good comics!

They don't make 'em like they used to.

I never understood all the hoopla about Krispy Kremes. I've tried them several times and haven't been convinced they're better than what I can get at a WalMart Super Center--or my local supermarket. Every one I've had was sickeningly sweet--but I admit it's probably just my taste. I know lots of people who love them.

I can't taste the difference either between there doughnuts and ones I could get at the supermarket or another doughnut shop. There good doughnuts but there nothing special.

I've heard so my hype about the and until last month had never tried one.(gasp) Well,I did the deed and had my first. It happened so quick and it was...okay. nothing more, just okay. Don't know if I'll ever do it again.

Looked foward to them when they first came to San Diego. Too sweet and little variety. Store crowded when first opened but now usually empty. Most people I know will only eat a half.

Amen, Rvrboat. I hear people talk about KK like they were the second coming. It's a donut, nothing more or less. We recently saw every KK in Arizona closed, and ll of the franchisee's assets sold at auction. I don't miss them a bit. We have several grocery stores that carry several brands of donuts, and in Casa Grande, we have Rico's donuts, which are pretty doggone good.
