Sears Home Delivery Terrible
Kenmore Refrigerator - Complaint
HOUSTON, TEXAS -- We purchased a drier and refrigerator from Sears about a month ago. I stayed home for the delivery. The drier was brought in and connected. Then the men informed me that the refrigerator would not fit in the space where our to be replaced refrigerator stands. I told them we and the sales person had measured the refrigerator several times at the store and it would fit, that the height of the hinges does not matter because they are out from the overhang. They still said it would not fit and told me if they brought it in and it didn't fit that they would not put it back on the truck. I could tell they didn't want to take the refrigerator off the truck when they asked what I was going to do with the old refrigerator - which we had paid Sears to haul away. They just wanted to get out of there.
So we went back to the store and talked again to the salesman, spent more than an hour again at Sears remeasuring, the salesman calling the delivery people, etc. Two salesmen said that given our measurements at home the refrigerator absolutely would fit. So a new delivery date was set for Sunday June 10, 2012. Friday we get an automated call around 8:15 AM telling us to call an 888 number because our delivery has been delayed. We call that number and they tell us they won't be delivering the refrigerator this Sunday, and won't deliver until June 28. We told them this was unacceptable. We're on the phone with them 20 plus minutes and they tell us this is our fault because we refused delivery. THAT'S A LIE - THE DELIVERY PEOPLE ARE LYING. We're on hold another 10 minutes or more and they tell us that's the best they can do, that our refrigerator, which the original delivery men refused to even unwrap or take off the truck, has been delivered to another customer. We then told them to CANCEL THE ORDER, that we were taking our business elsewhere.
Bottom Line: Sears has been running a lot of commercials over the past six months or so with that WAKE UP CALL catch line. Don't fall for it. The delivery people don't want to do their jobs and the delivery department is the worst I have ever dealt with. Do yourself a favor and do not purchase any appliance from Sears that requires delivery. Just say NO to Sears delivery. You will save yourself hours of wasted time and anguish.
