FLORIDA -- Save your self a lot of grieve and go some where else. Had been a customer since 1991, the bigger they got the worst they got. Now it's the 8 arm monster and none of the arms knows what the other one is doing. They get accounts confused, numbers wrong. Never return calls or emails. Took months to close all the accounts which were all in good standing. Even had problems getting in safe deposit box. Always very slow and poor customer service, very time consuming to do business with either on the phone or in person. Last straw it took 3 orders before they got our checks printed correctly. Very slow to do anything. Changed everything to BB&T very fast, accurate and good.

Yep, sounds like my experience which was several years shorter. Way too large and nobody knows what they are doing or how to find someone who does. One great big joke of a company.

Excellent review!

I work in the industry and have for 6 years now (more of merchant services/payments - i don't work at a bank)...I have a Masters in Business and feel that I have my fair share of common sense.

I deal with banks all of the time. I've learned that any BIG bank, like BofA, Wells Fargo, SunTrust, BB and T, PNC, etc...are so large that no one knows what anyone else is doing or who is responsible for what, which makes it very difficult to get an answer for something if the person you are talking to doesn't know it. They usually don't even know who to tell you to call.

I should say BB and T is, in my opinion, better than all of the other banks I named previously.

Unfortunately, from what I've heard, banks don't pay well. So, this results in a million manager titles...which in turn leads you to assume that you are dealing with a decision maker. In fact, you are talking to a branch manager making $$0-35Kish per year that may not have a college degree or any common sense (or both!)

I use a local bank that isn't terribly small, but big enough. And I have an account at a credit union. Word of advice - I saw you are in FL....stay away from SunTrust AKA FirstData. Their left had has no idea what their right hand is doing...it is impossible to get someone on the phone that has a clue. I used them for 8 years.

Find a good home town bank for savings and if you need BB and T for everyday transactions, etc...ATM use, use them. Just don't bounce a check. If you do, fees will be substantial.

That 'Branch Manager' is usually between the ages of 22-25 and hired because they 'look the part' (all american attractive fraternity guy or sorority sister). Whether they have a college degree or not is irrelevant. Many don't have an OZ of common sense either
