Homelite - Poor Consumer Relations

ALEXANDRIA, ONTARIO, CANADA -- Purchased a chain saw from Home Depot, sales associate recommended this model for our needs. Was a Christmas gift, and so the guaranteed would be extended from then. Started to use it in early spring, unit was always running too fast, called tech support, advised what to do, adjustment did not work, took it in to be serviced at a Homelite recommended center, they adjusted it, tried it again same problem, brought it back, was told the carburator needed to be changed, and given the time frame that had passed it was no longer under warranty. Had this been the out come at our first call it would have been changed under the warranty. The Service dealer was more sympathic than Homelite, As I have now researched Homelite products I will say as many others do, when looking for these types of power tools, pass the homelite display, not worth the money, even on special, because they do not stand behind their product, they hide behind their warranty.

If you want service after the sale don't ever buy from big box stores. Buy a product for a business that does their own warranty work. Stihl dealers usually service their own stuff.
