Popular Science - Canadian Subscription Rates compared to U.S. Rates

Magazine Subscription email offer - Complaint

NEW YORK, NEW YORK -- As a former subscriber to Popular Science I received an email offer for a two year subscription for $15.00 or one year for $10.00. When I clicked on the offer I was taken to a Canadian (I am Canadian!) online subscription form where the only available offer was a one year subscription for $26.00.

As our Canadian dollar is worth almost as much if not more than the American dollar, there is no justification for such a large price difference.

I found this insulting and condescending and want all Canadians to know just how little Popular Science thinks of them.

How much is postage going from USPS to your mail service? Taxes or duties?

there was just a tv show about this in Canada. US charges Cdn retailers far more than the same product in the USA. Just like on the back of paperback books there is a US and Cdn price. Agree its unfair but hardly a Popular Science specific issue.

This has been going on for a long time, and it's not limited to Popular Science either. Peanunt Butter Cookies mentioned, there may also be import taxes or duties involved.

Also BTW as of 6/13/12. The exchange rate is $1.00 USD = $1.03 CAD
