Car Rental with debit card and required credit approval - Complaint
ST PETE, FLORIDA -- Beware of false assurance of prepaying online by debit card! I was fully assured all the required information that I needed was going to be smooth sailing on the day of renting a car. I brought all requested information for a credit check. I had beyond the amount for the cost of the rental in my account. The company doesn't tell you if your credit is to their approval until the very minute of arrival at the rental center.(I even asked if I could come the day before for a credit check, so I would have time to find another rental service if need be. But the company waits until you have no time left to make other arrangements for traveling) As I was waiting another customer was experiencing problems with their reservation which happened to be the same package promised online that I prepaid. This was very distressing for them and for all other customers waiting. By the time I was served my schedule for departure for my trip was delayed an hour and the ending result was I was denied rental. It was on a technicality of my monthly bill for my car insurance wasn't enough and the company wanted the electric bill to be in my name instead of my husband's even though the debit accounts are in both of our names that's all fine if that is the way they want to operate but I was left humiliated, stressed and my expected departure greatly delayed. The end result was a day of my vacation was stolen from my family. But after I frantically searched for another rental car service my neighbor helped me find a Enterprise rental on the phone. I explained what happened to me at Budget and the regional manager at Enterprise treated me like family soothing my spirit, accepted all the information for my debit -credit check that budget required and I had a beautiful 2010 Dodge charger with unlimited mileage waiting for me within 20 minutes of my phone call. Now why did budget make such an seemingly wonderful promise for car rental only to be denied and treated as unworthy to drive one of their cars? I am a very fair person and would not state these things if I didn't have high standards as a customer for being treated fairly and honorably. I feel this company is only after the greed of money (. P.S. when I was forced to cancel the prepaid confirmed reservation; we were assured of a full refund. Which didn't happened until jumping through further loopholes with this company. Finally today I'm told I will receive the full refund..it's a wait and see moment once again !
