NORTH CANTON, OHIO -- My brother and I went to steak n shake for their new fresh banana milkshakes. We sat down and ordered are milkshakes. The waitress informed us that they were out of bananas and would not be getting any in for a few day.

This steak n shake is by several grocery stores and outlet stores, so I asked the waitress why don't they just go to Aldi's or marcs, GFS,
Sam's club, etc. and pick some up till they get some in.

She laughed and said the other shakes are good also. We ordered other shakes and food, but we did not get what we came for.

I don't understand, why someone at the store could not have went and got some bananas since the waitress said they had been out of bananas all day.

When I went to pay the bill and the girl asked was everything o. k. I mentioned we had wanted the new banana milkshakes, but couldn't get them.

She said lots of luck with that and laughed.

I won't be going back there and feel if you are going to have your employees wearing buttons advertising the new shake you should be able to make them.

The supply chain sure is a finicky thing sometimes, especially when chains have standards they try to abide by. I hope the other shakes were tasty!

I feel for you, OP. My ex-husband and I once walked into a Chinese restaurant to get a to-go order. He ordered something with green beans. We were told it was a 10 to 15 minute wait, which was not outside of the norm, since we didn't call ahead. Seconds later, one of the staff in the back left out the front door, and walked in a few minutes later with fresh green beans purchased from the grocery store next door. They still had our order ready on time.

Now, THAT's service. However, they were not part of a chain, and independently owned. Great decision made on the part of that manager.

Sorry, OF. That was years ago. I can't guarantee they still offer the same service, or are even owned by the same people.

It may have something to do with arrangements with exclusive suppliers. If they went to the grocery store, they could technically breach their contract if they have such an arrangement. Sometimes restaurants run out ingredients, it happens.
