SECAUCUS, NEW JERSEY -- I have treated cats for years for fleas and ticks but Frontline costs so much I decided to try Hartz's treatment. The applicator was applied, as per instructions, to the skin between the shoulder blades at the base of the skull and the cat was kept indoors until the solution had completely dried. The cat was allowed out doors after about five hours but he still had visible fleas. The application was made four days ago and he still has healthy fleas although the cat has not been wet or with other cats.

Much as I hate it I'll continue with Frontline rather than pay for a product that shows no sign of working. Frontline has never failed me.

I've always heard that cheap hartz stuff doesn't work. I use thos stuff called petarmor. You can get it at wal mart. A 3 month supply for 25 bucks. Its comparable to frontline and half the price.

Good review. As you state, the most important thing is that what you use works.

Be very careful with Hartz Flea products for cats. Some people have lost their pets because of it. More than one use has been reported by some to cause fatal illnesses in their animals. I agree that it doesn't work anyway though, so you're not saving money by using the cheaper brands.

You can buy the largest size of Dog Frontline and dose it down for your cat. A cat uses .5 ml. The largest size has 4.02 ml in it, so that is 8 months of Frontline from each tube, or 2 years from a 3 pack. The dog and cat Frontline have the same inactive ingredients and the active ingredients are almost the same. A dog's actually has a little more, so little less of a formula won't hurt them. I bought a syringe and vial from eBay and divide it that way.
