DISH - Like dealing with the IRS - every rep you talk to has a different story!
Service from beginning to end - Complaint
LAGUNA HILLS, CALIFORNIA -- It began well - no problem installing anything and everything. This was via phone in April of 2012. How many stations can I record at one time I asked? 4 I was told, although it was not stated they had to be on two different main boxes. So the installer came out and only had one control box and two little boxes, telling us we could only record 2 stations at any one time...and of course, we would also have to watch one of those. We told him we did not order that - we ordered the ability to record 4 stations at one time. He showed me the order and it only had one major box to install. So he installed everything, and it took him 4 hours as it was a lot of cable to attach all 6 TV's - but he said he would have to come back with the 2nd main box in order to fulfill our order. We asked if he would call and confirm with the main office if this was right and then he said, "In less than a month we're coming out with a box that let's you record 6 stations - why not get that?" We said yes, we talked to the main office and they said should not be a problem when it comes out to switch and in the meantime, they would send out the 2nd main box.
We got the 2nd main box in the mail. We hooked it up and all was fine. We then called when the new 6 station recording box was ready and was told sorry, we already signed the contract for the old system and it would cost us $400 to switch to the new system. They did not care that someone before them said, no problem, you can switch. We said fine, cancel our service - and they did.
We then got a bill for $600. I wasn't sure what that was for and shame on me for not calling right away, as I just received a bill for $860. When I called they said that $400 was for the contract we signed, and the other $400 was for the equipment we still had. We sent in the equipment via UPS the same day we canceled the service - they say they did not receive it. I'm looking for my UPS receipt - otherwise I will owe them thousands for all the equipment they will say I have.
Bottom line, do not do business with DISH - every person I talk to has a different story and they will say whatever they feel like it. There is no consistent story and they do not care about customer service.
