A 4 years customer of Sprint using the 39.99 price plan
LAKE VILLA, ILLINOIS -- I had Sprint service for 4 years, but switched because the $39.99 plan (450 minutes)can cost $65-80 a month, depending on whether picture mail, text or other services were added. Taxes and surcharges were around $10 dollars a month. Keep in mind all I got for $65 a month was phone service, picture mail and 300 texts. When my bill was high, customer service did recommend ways to reduce my monthly costs. They also reduced my overage fees by half when I went over my minutes accidentally. This was/is the good part of their service plan.
The bad part was trying to get out of the contract a month early. There is a $50.00 fee on top of your regular bill. I was told the only way to avoid the $50 fee, would be to downgrade to a 200 minutes plan at $29.99. My bill still came in at 60.00, but this was due to picture mail fees of 10.00 and 411 charges. The company refused to remove the $10 picture mail fee since I had ended the contract with them.
My advice is to keep a contract with a company no longer than 2 years unless you are sure you really like the service. By the end of 4 years I was tired of paying a lot of money for phone service that did not include the Internet. I switch to Boost (owned by Sprint) because it costs 55 a month (*smartphone) and I get unlimited text, web and Internet. Sprint is a good company, but it's sad they don't offer their contract paying customers a better deal. Lake Villa, Illinois
