Sears - Horrible Customer Service

FREDERICKSBURG, VIRGINIA -- 2 days ago I bought a pair of pants on clearance for my son. When I got home my wife told me that my so needs a size larger so today I took them back to exchange them. I purchased them in cash for all of 2.99. I lost the receipt and when I took them back I was told that without a receipt I could not exchange the item. I was really horrified as the pants had all the original tags and were clearly in new condition. Since it was a simple exchange the company was not open to becoming a victim fraud. I asked to speak with a manager. I wound up talking with the assistant store manager.... And she would not budge. In the end I said, ' in this economy is it really worth permanently losing a customer over something that doesn't cost them a dime?'. She said, 'I'm sorry, that's our policy'.
So, my warning to Sear customers - their customer service stinks. I see, after looking at reviews, that seems to be the consensus. I for one will never step foot in another Sears.
