SPARTANBURG, SOUTH CAROLINA -- I purchased a car through auto purchase program at credit union. The sales person that I dealt with Jeff [snip], seem to understand and acknowledge what I had in mind to do. I had a loan from the credit union and was going to make a cash down, and sell my car to the dealer. NOT TRADE on the sale, SALE!!!!! Several times before I drove to the dealership (2 hours away) we went over and over the details, about the car, the purchase, etc. I arrive at the dealership, my loan amount has changed, my down payment has changed and no check for the purchase of my car. This salesperson has rewritten everything. You would think that he might have mentioned any of this before I drive down there. I assume he screwed up, but didn't want to admit that fact. So needless to say, maybe Jeff [snip] doesn't remember or retain what you tell him. Obviously there will not be a second purchase from this dealership nor a recommendation. I had originally thought I would get my son a Mazda from this dealership, but nope, I'm going to Toyota.

Wow. I would not have gone through with the deal at all once I realized the paperwork was different than what was agreed upon.

I'm surprised this dealer would offer to buy your car outright, and handle the sale separately. Mostly because dealers can make more money off the deal by making it more complicated.

As Raven said, I'm surprised you went ahead with the deal which appears to have changed quite a bit. I guess the bottom line in my mind is did it cost you more money, and how much?

Financing details about purchasing a vehicle are made by the Credit Manager, not the sales person. Sounds like whatever the sales person said he/she could do didn't get approved.

To rrkeziah:

I do apologize that you feel the deal was not handled properly or that I took advantage of you during our transaction. I can guarantee that was not my intention or the way I do business. Again, I truly do apologize that you feel that way!!

We certainly will strive to retain your future business if you decide to try again! If you would like to come in or speak to me anytime regarding the details of the transaction and how the numbers worked out in your favor by trading in the vehicle vs. us buying it, please feel free to contact me.
