WORLDWIDE -- Just got off the phone to pay my Amex statement and man, the hoops I had to jump through!!
20+ minutes to pay a $3000 statement and why??? Well, after using the automated service which requires your card number and PIN, I then requested to talk to an "Account Professional" who asked me a whole series of private inf which was all correct. I was then asked to provide the 4 check digits on the card which HELLO they haven't sent me yet. I said " but you haven't sent it yet".
I also kept reminding them I wanted to MAKE A PAYMENT and that I wasn't a charity worker trying to offload some loose coin and pay some random Amex account.
Summary: totally absurdly ridiculous and massively time wasting.
Is the aim of this tactic to make you late cause you don't have the "check digit" on the card you want to pay so that interest is applied due to not paying on time?
Very very poor-get a Visa card
