MEDCO Medicare Pharmacy Plan - False Representation
Medicare Mailorder Pharmacy - Complaint
Review by circa1910 on 2012-07-02
TAMPA, FLORIDA -- Signed up for the MEDICARE prescription plan after speaking with Medco representatives several times, specifying each time that I was interested in a MEDICARE PLAN. Ordered three prescriptions and was surprised to find it over $1,000. They phoned me and said they needed phone authorization for such a large amount. I cancelled one prescription I could live without and the other two arrived. Then I realized that the savings was very small on my heart medication which I have to have.
In July 2012, I called them with a question about a new prescription and they said I had a NEW plan, a Medicare plan with a $300+ deductible. This deductible was not mentioned during the talks I had about signing up, and I did NOT sign up for a PRE-Medicare plan. All my paperwork from them, including my ID card says MEDICARE, so there's no reason for them to claim I have a NEW plan, different from the one under which I ordered my two previous prescriptions. With the $49+ I pay them every month PLUS a $300+ deductible, my out of pocket costs would be over $900/year BEFORE I ordered anything - this was not cost effective!
They apologized (over and over) for "misrepresentation" AND REFUSED TO DISENROLL me, saying it was Medicare rules to only disenroll for other reasons that didn't apply to me. You can be sure I will disenroll in October - be warned!
