USA, FLORIDA -- "I own a business and have had a business account with UPS for about 4 years now. I have to say that when it comes to UPS losing the packages they can trick you into not paying you for their claims. UPS had lost my 1st package of signs I sent (I make signs) and I ended up making the signs again for the client because my client was very unhappy. UPS took my second package I sent and claimed it as the lost one. They also made some kind of scam and linked both tracking numbers to the same "Case #" , I lost money and they are not willing to take responsibility. So BE REALLY careful when it comes to them losing your boxes. If you need to send replacements because their investigation lasts 8 days, do it through USPS not UPS, because they will use your replacement to justify they found the original package and will NOT pay you. This is a big company, but gladly the internet lets us communicate this things to other companies. Another hint, if you need fright shipping use Conway freight, they are much more cheaper and faster."

Did you make the claim as you were sending out the next package? I wonder if that was the case because I would find it hard for them to apply the tracking number of a previous package to a new one if it wasn't made clear.

I see why you are upset, as these had your work product in them as well as you lost money, but could this just be a mistake? I have a hard time believing that they do this routinely.

It seems really strange. The tracking numbers should be days apart, and I assume you only claimed one package lost. It's hard to believe they couldn't be led to see there is something wrong with their version of events - eg two packages are linked the case of one lost item.

UPS is United Parcel Service not United States Parcel Service. People will get the idea that USPS (the US Post Office) was your provider instead of UPS.

The two packages were not linked. As part of the investigation the consignee would be contacted by an office employee of the destination center. The employee has no idea you have reshipped. They ask the consignee if they received the items listed. If the consignee responds that they have (misunderstanding and speaking of the reshipment) the employee would assume that the consignee received the one and only package they are aware of. It is an uncommon misunderstanding, but it does happen. Simply contact UPS about the mistake (within a reasonable period of time, as this post is quite old) and it would be corrected. UPS pays a much larger percentage of claims than it denies and employees involved in the claims resolution process are not only expected to preform their jobs in an honest and ethical manner, but understand there is zero tolerance for anything else. I'm sorry you had a difficult experience with your claim.
