Wal-Mart - Walmart Ground Beef - Taste and Smell "Off"
Ground Beef Hamburger
DUNCANSVILLE, PENNSYLVANIA -- I have been buying Walmart meat for years, but the last 2 times I purchased the ground beef rolls, they were smelly when cooking them, and tasted really bad. About 3-4 weeks ago, I made a 3-lb meatloaf using the 20/80 large roll of ground beef. It smelled funny when I took it out of the oven, and tasted really bad. I threw the whole meatloaf away. I wasn't sure which ingredient ruined the meatloaf, so I wrote the whole thing off. Today I made a ziti casserole using a smaller beef roll, a different cast iron casserole bowl, and all new ingredients. The beef was purchased 3 weeks later. I ended up eating the pasta around the meat, and throwing the rest away. I don't know what Walmart did to their meat, but it's nasty. I can't even describe the funny taste. It doesn't taste, or smell rotten, just "off".
