GE multiple failure in most appliances

BOULDER -- The GE company makes shoddy products. This huge conglomerate got into the Finance business and forgot to make decent products or respect their consumers. My two GE refrigerators break down often. In one the ice maker stopped working after 3 years, and in the other the cooling system broke down just after the 5 year extended warranty. The megatron in my GE profit microwave also conked just after the 5 year extended warranty, and my washing machine has had to be repaired twice in the last 5 1/2 years. If these were occasional problems, one would understand but GE products seem to systematically fail. Buy a Samsung or an LG. There are more expensive (they used to be cheapies but look how these once third world companies now put Western companies to shame ) but in the end the higher costs are worth the cinital expense. GE's busies model almost seems to be make money from repairs and overpriced spare parts while baiting the consumer with seemingly discounted prices. They are a joke of a company which no pride in what they make. Just short-term thinkers aiming at making top management indecent income.

I think GE microwaves (and several other brands) actually are made by LG. My magnatron failed after about 9 years in my GE (LG built) microwave. My GE refrigerator and gas range have performed flawlessly for 14 years. It does seem all appliance quality not just GE has gone way down recently.

All appliances last a shorter time than they used to. My 17 year old GE appliances and laundry have performed without a failure. I've heard complaints about LG and Samsung too.

I hope the whole industry moves back towards quality, because otherwise everyone will have to buy new ones every 5 years.

I too hope that the industry goes back to quality and not what fancy new computerized add on someone might get to show off.

It's like appliances have become the latest Iphone.

I have three year old GE appliances in my new home. GE side by side refrigerator stopped working. Sears repair said it had three issues, control board failure, leak in compressor and fan motor failing. Told it was cheaper to replace refrigerator. Now, electric oven turns on by itself. Trust me, GE is junk. No recalls, no warranty.
