Super8 - Mistaken reservation

GOTHENBURG, NEW JERSEY -- I made a reservation for this hotel for the wrong month. I didn't discover it until it was too late to cancel. I was using Wyndham Rewards to make the reservation and they had the wrong phone number for me. So when the hotel tried to call they got a "disconnected" notice. The hotel claimes they tried ten times to call. Why would they continue after that message. Had the hotel just googled my name they would have instantly been able to get in touch with me. They did have a good email address for me but didn't try using it. Super8 Customer Care said they could do nothing. I have been really soured toward Super8.

I don't believe a motel/hotel has to go to great lengths to contact a no-show.

You evidently made this reservation for one of more months in advance by mistake. Therefore, the day of the reservation you were a no-show. The motel attempted to call you, but the number on file was incorrect due to no fault of the motel.

It is a judgment call as to whether they should do anything further. In my opinion, they went above what many motels would do just to attempt to call.

I have stayed at Super 8 before and have made reservations using their site. After you make the reservation, you get an automated confirmation email. I always check it to make sure everything is correct. You must have gotten the email and evidently, you didn't check it. They tried to contact you with the phone number you provided which didn't work. They did what they were supposed to do. You're the one that dropped the ball here.

If we get a no show we charge it and check it out. The last thing I am going to do is google someone's name if they are a no show reservation. if you had called the hotel and asked to change the date or explained your situation I might be willing to work with you on rescheduling the reservation, or offering a free night in exchange for the no show night. Or if oyu had called Wyndham Rewards and explained what happened we would be happy to work with them to make everyone happy.

I did call the hotel, after I discovered the mistake. They wouldn't do anything. They said to call 800-800-8000 and the person at Super8 said talk to the motel. I don't know anything about Wyndham rewards.

Yes, this was my error but it has taught me that Super8 is intolerant of errors and since I am human I ought not try to stay at a Super8 for the rest of my life. I hope this hotel enjoys the ~$60 for my mistake and the $0 from now on.
