Travelocity - Stranded In Alexandria
Hotel - Complaint
ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA -- I booked a trip with Travelocity to include hotel and airline tickets. I flew to Alexandria and found that my hotel was a dive with NO ELECTRICITY. I contacted "customer support" and was unable to speak with anyone who spoke English. I continually told them they had no electricity. I was told that "I will call the hotel and they have to let you check-in because it is already paid." They couldn't grasp why without electricity, I wouldn't want to check in.
I also told them that without power there were no phones. They continuously tried to call the hotel and told me their phones weren't working...DUH! After 2 hours of being on-hold, shifted around and given excuses I was told, that they would not help me and that I would need to find another hotel on my own if I wanted to sleep indoors for the night.
I was given the fantastic advice to send an email complaint where I would "get more that you deserve"...apparently that is a computer generated return email 24 hours later informing me that they will contact the hotel within 10 days to let them know that they had a complaint.
Called back the next day because the reservation was for a week. I was told (after being put on hold forever again) that they couldn't refund because I didn't tell the hotel the previous day that I was cancelling...you remember...when their phones were out and everyone continually tried to call them to tell them just that!
If you feel brave enough to book with these jackwagons, PLEASE use a major credit card. It is the only way I was able to receive a credit for the hotel. I disputed with my credit card company who returned the money.
