SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- Picked up car in SLC airport. Agreed to $3.33 a gallon upon return to bring level of gas to same level upon pick up (full). Returned car full - but was still charged $79.92. Check in clerk certain she checked in car correctly and gas should not have been charged. They said go to front desk for credit. Did so, and manager was not available to fix @ that moment.

Front CSR Personnal advised they'd get credit issued (verified w/back check in personnel car was returned full), provided E mail address for confirmation and departed. Waited till following day - no E mail received concerning credit. Called Utah location and spoke w/manager who said we agreed to be charged that amount upon picking up the car. I thought she was joking when I said, seriously, we returned the car of full? I asked for their corporate phone number and was told their location was privately owned, so complaint would be noted, but even so, they would not give us gas credit.

I am working with corporate to get this resolved. If that doesn't work, I'm off to the BBB of Utah and FTC. I also think a class action lawsuit to be appropriate to this location. Read reviews of this location after the fact. Should have read prior. Many complaints of are of same nature!

It sounds like their argument is the option chosen on the contract was to prepay for a full tank of gas. If that is what was chosen, then it doesn't matter what level the car was returned with - you get charged for a whole tank.

This website tells the different fueling options, it sounds like you picked the Fuel Service Option (pay for an entire tank of gas regardless of how much you used)

Thank you for the link - Appears that is the option we agreed to but were not given details. We were lead to believe that option was we would pay $3.33 a gallon upon return to top off tank. The link is specific and detailed. That sheet should have been handed to us to review. We were given a rental agreement (w/out copies of initials and/or signatures) and a brochure. In the brochure bullet #15 reads: Fuel: Renter will pay or replace all fuel provided by Budget. The refueling charge is determined by multiplying the number of gallons needed to refill the tank (to the same level when received) times the dollar-per-gallon rate specified on the Rental Agreement. Renter agrees that the number of gallons needed to refill the tank may be estimated based on the fuel gauge reading or miles driven. That is what we thought we were signing. If customer service would have provided all options as noted on link, we would have been better informed and better prepared to select appropriate method of refueling car. Any other car we've rented has been returned an only gas charged to bring car to original level as when taken. Gravely dissapointed! Thanks for the input - appreciated.
