OSWEGO, ILLINOIS -- I bought a Ryobi leaf blower from who else-Home Depot- worked for a year then broke. This is an 18v battery model. I took it apart and found that the a plastic fan was glued to a metal shaft coming from the motor. No way to repair it without a replacement part.

First this is a play out of the GM planned obsolesence playbook from years ago. Mesh metal with plastic. I could try the call wait order the part wonder if it will work approach but I'm going to Lowes and hope they have something better.

Perhaps. I have a 10 year old Ryobi trimmer that has worked great. Could be a overall sign of the times, and a general reduction in quality. The replacement part is probably very expensive - I replaced a few cheap parts on mine that finally failed due to old age. Good luck.
